Every so often
you feel a wave of hope,
which tries to balance
your struggling ship in chaos.
You come close
to beating the odds,
but the oars give way
midway, when you least expect it.
There are other ships around
Each more steady
and experienced than yours
but they are merely passing by.
However you choose to enter
the arms of Mother Nature,
your persistence will go down
as the best there ever was.
As your ship hits the trench
in life’s final moments,
what would you see —
memories of a long-lived tale,
broken promises of yesteryear,
or perhaps the serenity
you thought there would be?
Don’t give up easy, hold on
with all that’s left
in this weather of hope.
